Summer spent the weekend in Utah.
When we asked the kids what they wanted to do for spring break, Summer said-
"Let's go to Utah."
The rest of us replied-
"Nah."
We actually wanted to enjoy sunshine and warmth during spring break.
Andy and I talked it over and decided that Summer was old enough to do a solo trip.
She was mega excited when we told her that she was flying to Utah.
But then I started getting nervous.
Should I really let my baby fly up in the air all by herself with total strangers?
Needless to stay I let go of my fears.
Before the trip we went over every safety measure a million times and of course I made her promise to call me frequently.
On take off day,I went with her to the gate and stayed at that airport until that plane left and I felt like my baby was safe.
The whole weekend there were lots of comments from the kids like-
"It feels like someone is missing."
"It seems too quiet."
"Our family feels smaller."
It just goes to show that every person's presence in a family is felt and needed.
Kate did love that fact that she got to sleep in a "real" bed instead of her little toddler one.
We really need to do something about that.
Summer had an amazing time spending time!
There was sleeping in, watching TV with Grandma, partying with friends, roller skating and a sleepover with Destiny, pony party with Aunt Maureen, shopping with Aunt Rachael, more time with Grandma, cinnamon rolls, sleeping in, and lots of reading.
I was so happy to see her when she got off the plane and even happier to know that she had such a wonderful experience.
"Were you ready to come home?"
"It went by too fast."
A girl after my own heart. I love going on vacation.
When she got home from school everyone played it cool.
Brothers don't tell their sisters they were missed.
Kate of course was full of excitement to see her sister. Lots of jumping and smiles.
But as soon as everyone sat at the kitchen table for snacks and homework lots of talking and laughter was going on.
Lots of botherly and sisterly love was happening.
It made me smile.
It warmed my heart.
Yep. Things were back to normal.
We sure missed that gal!

Christin, I just love reading your blog. You have such a way with words. That is so great that Summer could go by herself - how much fun for her.
