Very Delightful Veteran's Day Weekend

Jacob snuggly on the most comfy couch ever made, while watching Star Wars
You know how some days you can just be doing every day things and it just seems more delightful than other normal days.
Well we had 3 delightful ordinary days.
It truly was just one of those weekends that made me smile the whole time.
It was so fun to have the kids have a day off of school on Friday.
Summer was able to go to her first youth conference.
She was excited to go where cooler weather awaited her.
The rest of us had a lazy morning-
slept in, french toast for breakfast, did some chores, watched TV while mom went to the gym.
Kate and Taylor played with friends.
I did a little decorating.
Jacob took a nap on the couch with fuzzy blankets.
Joshua and I went on a date to Baskin Robbins (Nutty Coconut + Pumpkin Pie= Pure Yumminess)
Angels watching over Joshua as he decides to ride his scooter to the park by himself.
He doesn't quite check for cars yet.
Thankfully he made it home safely (Thank you white truck who stopped for him!)
Andy played the best golf game of his life.
Joshua, Kate, and I spent a few hours at the park.
Oh how I have missed the park.  It was like spending time with and old friend.
I was so nice to be outside.
Taylor and Andy took down flags for scouts, just in time for sunset.
I made my Grandma Gaisford's clam chowder for the first time,
And we all dipped our crusty bread in it.
Taylor and Jacob went off to the park to play night games with their friends.
Kate and I played 5 rounds of UNO, Andy on the computer, and Joshua stimming with rattle in the background.
Another late night.
A day filled with delightfully ordinary things.

Saturday was more sleeping in.
Toast and Egos for breakfast (Anyone want some of my warm quinoa with raisins?).
Jacob and Taylor came out looking even more handsome after their haircut by Amber.
Let's go on an adventure!
We took a hike- more like a desert walk- up at Usery Pass.
We walked and talked and walked and talked some more.
There was NO whining.
Joshua was fascinated by the horse poop.
He called it wild horse poop.
"Look!  That wild horse poop looks like chocolate." (I'm gagging as I write this.)
Kate found a treasured cactus bone.
Gas station stop for a treat.
Taylor-"How about if we make that an annual hike."
Christin-"How about if we make that a monthly hike."
Taylor-"How about if for my Christmas gift I don't have to go on a hike."
Christin_"Hiking is not an option.  It is part of being a Maxfield."
Errands for me and more creative thoughts flowing through my mind.
Hanging curtains.
Andy making fun of me and making me crack up I almost bust a gut.
Roasting hot dogs and smores for dinner because November is when we can finally bbq out in the cool dark evenings.
Summer coming home with wind burn cheeks-
Telling me about every detail of youth conference and how she was shivering in the cold.
"Even while wearing your coat?"
"What coat?"
(Did I have this same kind of conversation with my own mother?)
Saturday showers and slumbering off to sleep with smiles because we had another
Delightfully  ordinary day.

Sunday- slept in.
Make your own breakfast.
Being filled with the Spirit at Church
Summer was called as the Miamaid Secretary.  I am so excited for her to be able to serve.
Coco Puffs for lunch. (leftover clam chowder for me)
Being lazy.
Read the Conference Edition of the Ensign.
Taylor catching up on his Book of Mormon reading on the living room couch.
Sunday comics.
Eggs and Bacon for dinner.
A loud and laughing game of Apples to Apples.
Homemade oatmeal cookies.
Brush teeth.
Bedtime.
Schedule for the next insanely busy week.
Read in bed.
Slumber off to sleep.
Again- Delightfully ordinary day.
