When you cry because winter break is over.
We had such a great time! Now I had lots of times when the kids drove me and one another crazy, ran all over the house, yelled and screamed (me included), didn't listen, and made a disaster of the house. But for the most part it was so fun just being together and not having a schedule. Laughing together. Watching the Harry Potter series throughout the new year and then watching Taylor and Jacob create wands and made up spells. Letting Kate sleep in until 9:30 and having her wake up with smiles and say, "Look mom I got up by myself." Clapping for Joshua during bowling because he loved the attention and having him interact with us more than he has in his life for 2 1/2 weeks. Having him wanting to be at home more than at school as he tried not to cry getting on the bus this morning and holding tight to my hand. Seeing Summer read tens of books. I never tire of that. "Window" shopping with Summer at our new favorite store. Playing at the park. Playing board games. Being with extended family. Eating the biggest bowl of candy ever. Spending hours at Barnes and Nobles. Ignoring as many errands as possible. Never hearing the phrase "I'm bored." Did I mention no schedule?
Now it is quiet and we have to get back into the routine of things, which are very important, and good for my sanity. Time goes by so fast. It seems like just yesterday I was hiding in the bathroom trying to get a few moments of quiet away from my five children. I just love Summer, Taylor, Jacob, Joshua, and Kate so much! School, music, scouts, dance, and sports are all wonderful! Schedules are great! For a few more months these important things will keep us learning, growing, and staying focused. And then we will be even more excited for SPRING BREAK!

I laughed when you said you go to the bathroom for a break!! I have actually hid myself in the bathtub before, and stayed there till the kids found me!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Kate still sleeps in like that. We are finally on the 7 am wake up at the Rozeskis. It took nearly 9 years, but I love it. I for one did not cry, I rejoiced. Maybe in 4 years, I will cry I imagine it must be strange to have an empty house all day after so many years of action. Miss you guys!!!
